Monday 3-4 works fine. Now we need to decide where. I would appreciate seeing your current planning tools to help me think about what information to provide you. So I suggest meeting at your office. I would like to bring with Sudhir my computational/DSI expert. Sometime you might stop by my lab to see our tools fully. We will bring with a laptop to show you parts of it.

I look forward to having more time to explore the potentials of working together.

Walt

Walt-

How about Monday, April 28th at 3 or 4 pm or so.

Thanks,

Dr Engh:

So lets meet. My schedule is quite open for next week. See Schneider Calendar <http://schneider.lrdc.pitt.edu/calender/waltcalender.htm> I can do most afternoon times except for today. I will also want to bring with Sudhir my computational imaging processing person.

Walt

Dr. Schneider-

This is very exciting to me. Could we meet in the late afternoon this week sometime?

Thanks,

Johnathan

Dr Engh:

I got back from DC today. I heard from Fernando that there have been requests for scheduling patients for DSI scans. I think it would be good for us to sit down and go over what you would like to achieve in a Connectome scan for a patient and for us to discuss the scanning and analysis steps that have to be done to do it well. We should also talk about what data formats you want the results in. It would also be useful for me and Sudhir (my image processing person) to look at the methods you currently use for surgery planning to have a basis for tuning our methods to be most helpful.

I believe we can provide scans and the fiber tracks this month. Using our software and staff we can provide a report on the impact of the surgical route on the fiber tracks (like the slides I presented). I expect it will not be till June that we can do a full Connectome workup on a patient. We should also discuss the time constraints (e.g., how long in advance can we know about the scan, how long from the scan to you need to upload the data into your system).

I want to run couple of staff to test out the specific protocols that could be used as th standard DSI presurgical protocol.

Walt

Dr. Schneider-

Thanks so much for your talk. The whole department was blown away. I hope that I was not abrupt afterward-unfortunately, our patient care conference followed your presentation, and we run on a very tight schedule for it.

It would be an honor to collaborate with your team. The potential applications for your work are both numerous and exciting. For now, I want you to know that Dr. Kassam and I are ready to do some work with you for our intra-axial tumor practice. Specifically, getting some of our patients to you for pre-op imaging, which we could use for surgical planning, and for post-op imaging, to evaluate our corridors, would be of enormous value. I think that the first question is where things stand with IRB clearance. What sort of IRB, if any, do you have for your work?

If there are potential applications which you would like to explore, please let me know. I would be happy to help make it happen. You will be shocked at how quickly things happen when Amin is behind it, and he is behind our minimally invasive intra-axial tumor initiative 100%. Call me anytime on my cell phone 412-956-3210 if you would like to discuss further. It would be great to talk about this again. Thanks again for the presentation-your work clearly represents a bright future for neuro-imaging.

Thanks,

Johnathan Engh

 Dear Colleagues:
The next meeting will be Wed 14 from 10-noon ( Chuck is tied up then, but I could not find another time when we lost only one person, so I think this will have to do). Our agenda will include:
1. Further discussion of possible opportunity for synergy with School of Education 2. Discuss how grants not funneled through LRDC should relate to LRDC support. Data from Patsy needed for this.
3. Decide on "counting" rules for web-site hits.

Soon, Marge will be sending around another request for availability info so that we can schedule a meeting to review the self reports, which are due in mid-May.
Thanks.

IMAGe

 Walt

There is a research interest group called IMAGe which includes neurologists, psychiatrists, radiologists, neuropsychologists, graduate students and the odd post-doc.  This group is focused on neuroimaging work as it pertains to geriatrics, and was born from a linking of the ADRC Imaging Core with like-minded investigators at the Late-Life Mood Disorders Center.  We think that this might be the best venue for your presentation.

IMAGe has a meeting scheduled for 27th May (a Tuesday) at 2 pm.  Is this time convenient for you ?  The meeting will be held in the Parkvale Bank Building on Forbes Avenue (across from Baba D’s restaurant).  There is a hook up for a projector for your lap top.

Let me know if this is OK with you.  Alternatively, we could schedule a separate IMAGe meeting for you to present.
